The Spirit of passivity operates in a lot of churches, but if the ministry of deliverance is not operating, it probably won't be dealt with. This spirit will prevent you from being used by God. Jesus was not passive. He died on a cross. Here are some verses to meditate on to address a spirit of passivity and become a better fighter in the spiritual war.

Pr. 27:5 - Open rebuke is better than secret love.

Pr. 28:23 - He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

Ex. 15:3 - The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

Nu. 23:8 - How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hat not defied?

Dt. 29:20 - The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and hte LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven. (This is what will happen to the man who serves other gods and walks in the imagination of his heart.

1 Sam. 19:5 - For he [David] did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

2 Sam. 23:12 - But he [Shammah, one of the mighty men of David] stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

1 Chr. 29:11 - Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

2 Chr. 34:24 - Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place [Jerusalem], and upon the inhabitants therof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah [because they had forsaken the LORD and burned incense to other gods.]

Ps. 24:8 - Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Jer. 35:17 - Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.

1 John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

God is a God of war! We are born for war!
We are created to overcome through Jesus Christ.

There are two kingdoms in conflict - God's kingdom and Satan's kingdom.

"Enmity" is found 8 times in the Bible.

  • Gen. 3:15 - [first messianic prophecy] I will put enmity between thee [the serpent] and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
  • Nu. 35:21,22 - Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him. But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait [...then the congregations shall judge.]
  • Lk. 23:12 - And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
  • Rom. 8:7 - Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
  • Eph. 2:15,16 - Having abolished in his flesh the enmity [between Jews and Gentiles], even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.
  • James 4:4 - Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

When you have worship with no war you have demons!

1 Pt. 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

Mk. 1:22 - And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

Isa. 42:13 - The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against he enemies.

Job. 1:7 - And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Signs of a passive spirit:

  • Laziness
  • Lost memory
  • Nervousness
  • Emotionalism
  • Frustration
  • Intellectualism - For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7) - prevents us from blessing people
  • Excessive crying
  • No power of choice; neutral
  • Excessive thinking
  • Reasoning spiritual things in the natural
  • Pouting
  • Restlessness
  • Unteachableness
  • Rationalization
  • Unholy laughter - "heh heh heh heh"
  • Worrying about how people will look at you in the public
  • Embracing natural rules more than spiritual rules
  • Weak willed
  • Agreeing with Satan
  • Fear to tell the truth to close friends and family
  • Fear of man
  • Compromise

Jer. 48:10 - Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.

Therefore stand up and speak the Word of God!

If people get mad at me, they are getting mad at God.

Mt. 10:34 - Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Gal. 1:10 - For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

BIBLE - basic instructions before leaving earth

If God sends you someone and you know they are in error, don't be afraid to test them or offend them.

Ez. 3:18 - When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

God's Word is going to do what it's going to do. You just have to let it fall. Some will receive it, and some will not. So just do the right thing.

Also, if we are not making progress in an area, we are not making war against the enemy.

Ph. 2:25 - Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

2 Tim. 2:3 - Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

2 Tim. 2:4 - No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Soldiers are not passive. They go to war. They do what they are told. They are willing to die if necessary. They don't leave their dead behind. They help each other.

Equipment to keep from being passive

Ps. 18:34 - He teacheth my hands [to turn to the Scriptures] to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

Ps. 144:1 - Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight. [i.e., use hands to open the Word and lay hands on people.]

1 Tim. 6:12 - Fight [agonize] the good fight of the faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and has professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Satan is like the terminator - he keeps coming up against you

2 Tim. 4:6,7 - For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

Heb. 10:32 - But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions.

Heb. 11:34 - Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
