In the Bible, we can see two main types of spiritual movements: decentralized and centralized. God mandates both, but His primary concern has been to bless the families of the earth and have a special relationship with some individuals. He also wants good role models rather than a top-down hierarchical model. Thus, He wants His people to trust Him, not structures, to be in this world but not of it and to be free to pour their new wine into new wineskins. The verses below trace these concepts from Genesis to Revelation.
